Don´t Fall Intro: Mistery Solved

Ever wondered which was the origin of the misterious words "In his autumn before the winter comes man´s last mad surge of youth" which appear in the Intro for Don´t Fall, the opener of Chameleon´s debut album Script of the Bridge?

Thanks to Yvo & GriefTourist, two Chameleons fans, the mistery is finally solved.

The words belong to
musical comedy film Two Sisters from Boston, directed in 1946 by Henry Koster and starring Kathryn Grayson, June Allyson, Lauritz Melchior, Jimmy Durante and Peter Lawford.

The excerpt where the famous words appear has been uploaded in Youtube by both Chameleons fans, so that we can enjoy the finding:

Thanks Yvo & GriefTourist for this.

  1. Brilliant; Don't Fall....I use that expression from time to time: "What on earth are you talking about."

  2. Just did a search as I couldn't sleep. I'm the Dutch fan who found the sample, 'GriefTourist' is a mate from Manchester who agreed to host my edited video. Can't quite recall how long the sample remained a total mystery, but it was for 15 years or more. I just had the resources to solve the mystery.

  3. Some sources claim it was a 30-year-old mystery. I did inform Mark Burgess (the singer) about my discovery, sent him the link to my video.
That probably saved him a lot of interview time. At the time of recording the album, the band just taped random samples from the telly. Years later, nobody had a clue what channel they had on, at what time and what was showing back then.So it took some time. And watching a bunch of lame old movies.
